Lynn Henning
Lynn Henning has been a member of "The Detroit News’" staff since 1979, apart from stints as editor of "PGA Magazine" and as a senior editor and writer for "Golfweek." Earlier books include "Spartan Seasons" (1987), and Kirk Gibson’s 1997 book, "Bottom of the Ninth," which Henning co-authored.
Henning, a past recipient of the honor of Michigan Sportswriter of the Year, has covered a broad swath of the sports scene, including major league baseball, Big Ten sports, and Michigan State and the University of Michigan in particular. An avid fisherman, he has written of the outdoors and his travels to distant fishing locales. A 1974 graduate of Michigan State, Henning began his career at the "Battle Creek Enquirer" before moving to the "Lansing State Journal," where he was a sportswriter and columnist for three-and-a-half years.
